ACCOMPLISHEMENTS

And this is where it all began:

2005 Young Writers Recognition and Award from the Mayor of Corpus Christi and Texas Parks & Recreation.

Mr. Camina spearheaded the production of “The View from 78415”. This book, focusing on a high-crime area, was written by young writers who ranged in age from 6 to 18 years. Their stories of hope and faith weaved “View from 78415” into the BEST COMMUNITY PROJECT IN TEXAS, The Lone Star Award.

Lone Star Programming Award for 78415 Summer Writing Project, Corpus Christi Park and Recreation Department

The Community Youth Development Program, under the auspices of the Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department, was established with funds authorized by the 74th Legislature for the purpose of reducing juvenile crime in areas of Texas with the highest incidence of youth crime.  The 78415 zip code is the designated area within Corpus Christi to receive Community Youth Development funding.  The 78415 Summer Writing Project was to give the youth of the 78415 community a voice and to provide a channel for them to express their feelings and experiences through art and writing rather than participating in juvenile delinquent behavior.  “The View from 78415”, a collection of material by over 30 authors ages 10 to 18 years old, proves the success of this innovative program.

Kaleidoscope of ARTS

Kaleidoscope of ARTS Mentor Program is a unique and inventive youth driven concept that combines communication, literacy, and giving back.

Hope Faith & Dreams Foundation has conceived a 10- week program that bonds students and community leaders.

Students connect with their Mentor through a series of zoom meets and conclude with an on-camera interview and photo session.

The interview will be included in a student produced documentary. The zoom notes and interview will be the basis for a 500 -word story, that each mentee will write about their mentor.

The essay will be published in a book entitled: San Antonio Inspires.

Our Very Special Thanks to Texas A&M University-San Antonio for their wonderful support. From the Office of the President to their student body, they were important in making Kaleidoscope of ARTS Shine On!

Hope Faith & Dreams Foundation would also like to thank our wondrous partnership team.
